Amy and I went to Wunderland today. I was sort of "meh" towards it because of the declining state of arcades. I enjoy the games of chance and ticket redemption, but I don't need to see a room of fifty of the same stupid redemption machines when all I'd like to see is just one or two cabinets with the dumb old shooters that you'd see in a pizza place. Anyways, we walked in and I quickly spotted a "H2Overdrive". Silly name. My first thought was, "Oh, a new Hydro Thunder game." Actually made by ex-Midway employees... moving on....

Amy and I played the hell out of that cabinet today. Why? You level up. And you get to save your data to a PIN. Which apparently can be entered into other cabinets in other locations. Plus it's just, well, you know, fun. Making you sit there with your hand on the throttle waiting to slam it back to jump through the air, the cabinet shaking from the bass speakers, the console display that matches what's on the screen.

It's the kind of thing that makes the arcade experience worthwhile.

And now I'm left with another little sliver of hope for when I go into an arcade. Damn them. It was so easy to just give up hope and move on.

I'm always looking for chancing to support the underdog. Even more so with things that I actually care about like comics and video games. The sad thing, though, is that I don't often feel that the underdogs give me a good enough reason to part with my precious precious money. Far too often it's, "Aw, if I had money, I'd totally buy this just because you did this cool." But last night I had to just go all in and buy the full version of "I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1". Mind you, I doubt that I will ever play the full version... and I only played the demo once.

But man, that guy earned his $1 from me. Try it and see if you can disagree. If you can... well... may zombies eat you.

Oh, well played pet store employee, well played.

We bought Chai some more pet supplies today. I also must admit that I watched a very climby white ferret and thought, "I wish we had a bigger cage and could take you back home and have you get along." But that's not the story here.

The story here is that the man in front of us at check-out went up to the clerk and asked if the store could dispose of his box. Everything after that is my guesswork based on the clerk's facial expressions, but I think it went like this. It slowly dawned on her that there was a dead animal in said box. He was asking her to take his dead animal. I can understand how he felt... he couldn't afford to pay someone to take him, but it could feel weird to just toss out the family pet in the trash... but... yeah... weird request. I swear that you could see her mind working from "Yeah... we don't do that...." to "well, we do take back animals that die within a week or so... and sometimes animals do die..." to maybe "we aren't exactly going to give him a nice funeral or anything" and then "this man brought a dead animal into the store, don't make him angry" and some "no reason to argue".... She then called someone up to the register and almost passed him the box, but then seemed to think better of it and left him to check us out.

I would have loved to see his expression if she didn't, though... and he'd just opened it up perhaps when he got into the back or something.

It's funny how I used to just type and type and type in this thing, but now I just couldn't care less. A bit of that is thinking that other people couldn't care less, but most of it is thinking that I couldn't care less about anything I might record.

I think a large part of that is probably just depression mixed in with my typical loads of anger. It's not anything particularly different from the rest of my life, I just don't think I'm "fighting" it or whatnot right now. I just sort of am. While on a walk I thought of comparing it to when an animal is hurt it'll fight/deny it for a while... but then it just sort of stops moving so that it feels it less. Usually dies after that. That's melodramatic, but it made me smile (Of course.).

I don't really do much, but then I guess I never really did. Hmmm. A lot of sitting around doing what I think would be boring to most people. Just sort of "is" to me. Of course, I do think that a lot of other things would be far worse. But I suppose that's just how it is. What can I think of then?

Saw "9", of course, ages ago... enjoyed it, though I think I sort of enjoyed the feel of the short more. The actual character of 9 also annoyed the hell out of me. Much in the same way that Frodo does, so I guess I can somewhat see why people kept making the comparison to LotR considering the voice and all. But I guess that character had the excuse of mind control, but still.... Played tons of video games, mostly WoW and "Mass Effect"... I'm still excited for "Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet", though no one has heard of that... started playing "Gears of War 2" last night and I'm pretty sure that the REALLY BIG WORM took the male-infused innuendo a step too far... RunMan runs really fast.... I've thrown four characters out of a window in Anti-Bishie and I don't know how I'm going to keep them from dying. Amy bought a moose yesterday. I watched the entire first season of "Castle" this week. I find multi-faced characters to be interesting and I'm pretty sure I'll be touched by sad stories, no matter how contrived and silly they are, so long as they are centered around giant robots.

Okay. That should be enough rambling now, I think. I also need to finish up some Anti-Bishie comics for the next few weeks.

Fin.

Sadly, I have things going on until this weekend. I suppose that we'll go then. Perhaps in the morning. Mmm... mornings.

Lastly, Amy and I are doing exercise routines now. It's pretty hilarious to do funny running in place while listening to silly music. Not so much happy end, but that's no surprise. Amy did ask the right question, though:

Should you really dedicate a movie about a "special" girl who learns martial arts by watching movies and kills a bunch of gang members to "special" children? Do you really want to encourage copy behavior? Maybe... it would be awesome to watch people doing Nervous-Tick Kung-Fu.

I also enjoyed watching the "Ouchie Reel" during the credits so that I can know how much pain, suffering and stitches went into the movie. Which has worked... and not worked at the same time. I somehow have 4 gigs of RAM reading as 3.5 and a 640 gig hard drive reading as 130 gigs. Freaking annoying. Plus I can't get anything from the old drive. Not that I care too much about most of it... but... it'd be nice to have some of the game software I had. Plus my bookmarks. I will miss my bookmarks.

[edit - over an hour later]

Oh, yeah. The setup.exe program starts running, but never becomes an actual application that opens. So I basically can't have Photoshop any more.

Because it was all of, what, two reasons that I bothered with getting a computer up and running again? I f***ing called this. I f***ing did. It happens so often that it's completely obvious when it's coming by now. Not overly pleased with any of them, though the idea of the Kamehameha one does still make me giggle.

Hmmm... oh, strangely enough, Lys and I got into "1 VS 100" on Xbox Live. I'm not actually very good at trivia, but the idea of a game show that is actually live and features random people in the audience entertains me a lot. I just wish that they choose their participants based on how much people have played and not how well. That makes more business sense to me: Encourage people to always watch/play and in turn watch the commercials you play, make more money because of how many people you can claim are watching the commercials, use more money to keep the whole thing rolling.

Hmmm... that's about it. Oh, and allergies are killing me. Yay, holiday!

Not much worth jotting down save opinions of recent media things.

First off... "Transformers 2". It was... ugh. I prefered the first movie. It had less effects, explosions and robots, but it was just a better put together movie. I should rewatch it just to be sure, I guess.

There are just so many things to complain about and the good things were basically explosions and fancy machines and being able to see giant robots. Everything else was either subpar or just bad. The humping dogs, the one liners that weren't even said at good times (One liners will never be good things, but they can be fun if done right.), the fact that they added more and more expensive special effects but there wasn't even a reason for them to do so since individualism is much more important when you are doing BIG SCARY MONSTER. Freaking hell. If you make a ton of big scary monsters and you have them being blown up 24/7 they are no longer big scary monsters... they instead become big expensive waste of time.

*sigh*

And don't even get me started on the subject from the basis of being a fan of the franchise. That was a heartache of awesomeness (Soundwave as a satelite! That's genius! Ravage with 80's sound effects! Ha!) and total suckage (Megatron is a willing lackey?! What the f*%&?! Devastator can't even stand up?!). I was going into the movie having heard that it was less than great, but I was even more disappointed in the end since what I saw here showed that even if there is a third film... even if they do something with Unicron... it will suck. Sad days.

The other thing I've been playing with is the PSP game "Prinny: Can I Be The Hero?". It is... well... hard. But I absolutely love it. But it is freaking hard. I would also like to be able to save while in a level. One of those "save for later/delete on loading" type of saves. There is no excuse for handheld games to not have such options.

Hmmm... oh, I have to mention Michael Jackson. Namely that everyone is talking about his music and whatnot. On the drive home yesterday I doubled my knowledge of his music. I honestly only knew four of his songs and perhaps 3-4 Jackson 5 songs. Ha. I just find my lack of pop culture knowledge to be entertaining... after I just talked about so much geek culture. Ha.

Season Finales Suck

I've been watching a ton of "Doctor Who" thanks to Rose and I have to say that I feel that the best part of each season is right in the middle. I just finished Season 3 of the new series and episodes like "Blink" are awesome, but the season finale is boring and stupid... well, save for the Face of Boe bit at the end. It's really too bad that they think they have to top things that have been done before, really... I fear how laughably stupid the Daleks will seem in the next season. That seems to be the working design: Make the classic enemy stupider and stupider every two episodes for no reason at all.

I never seem to think of something and stick to it, do I? I was going to force myself to play lots of tennis... but then stopped. I decided that I didn't need to go to Kumoricon, but then I start up work on a cover entry again. I tell Rose I want all of her "Doctor Who", but then I never drive out there to get it.

Hmph at me, that's all I have to say.

Seriously, it is. I haven't really been up to all that much that I think anyone would have any interest in. I've been playing a lot of Street Fighter IV in the Championship Mode. It's pretty nice now that I've figured out how the ranking works out. I'd probably play more if I didn't have to spend half of my time just trying to get a game going. Speaking politely over the microphone makes me smile, though.

"Hello, good day. Let's have a jolly good game now, alright?" - F&$^ YOU you PUSSY!!! F&$^ THIS SHIT! can't YOU USE A DIFFERENT F&$^ing MOVE?!?!?! BAIEIGHGKD:GHDFL:KDFJK:LFJL: - "Thank you very much for the game, it was fun. Have a very nice day."

It amuses me because I only have something like a 56% win rate, but I always seem to beat those people. Happy days!

The Chu costume is just hanging on the wall. I have some cheapo shoes to put into it so that it would be all finished, save for the sunglasses to mimic the Chu's beady little black eyes. But I just don't care anymore.

I don't care that much what other people think of it (Though it's always nice if someone likes it.), but I myself am never happy with the costumes I make and that always bugs me. And even though the idea was to make something that I could wear that is comfortable, this stupid thing is all WHITE. That's not going to be a good thing for me to wear for an entire day. Meh. Plus, even if I don't care what random people think of things, it's nice to have someone to chat with about it. I don't know anyone like that anymore, not really.

So I think I'm done.

I don't even think I'm going to KumoriCon this year. It just doesn't seem worth the effort. Maybe I'll go watch a movie that weekend, since I think that would probably be the same enjoyment level. Hmmm... oh, yes, that's right. Maybe I'll go if there add a guest that sounds interesting to me.

O'well.

So, yeah, through the wonders of Amy's family's Netflix account I started watching the 2005 "Doctor Who" series.

The annoying this is that it is indeed damn good and I can only access half of the first season this way. Damnit. I want to watch all of it.

I seriously never thought that I'd actually be able to understand how people see the plunger-trash-cans as scary, but it might have been helped by my introduction to them having been one at a time.

Hmmm...
Because I was forced to take today off from work Amy and I went to see the Wolverine movie.

If anyone thinks that film is a good use of characters from a different medium they are a complete and total freaking idiot.

I could list more things than I can tally right now for how many ways the movie failed. Instead I will list two good things and a simple question followed by why that question is important.:

1. The logger-bar fight was pretty cool. Creed kicked his ass.
2. Dukes was a pretty good re-creation. I accept the changes made to him because the boxing fight was simply fun.

Question: When did Wolverine become such a pussy? I thought people liked him because he was actually a badass.
