Contemplation

I've been giving some serious thought to returning to Enter Void.

When I left, it was mostly out of too much crap going on in real life. And all of that's pretty much gone, now. I've got a few art projects to finish, including my portfolio comic. But once those are done, I'm going to look at making a short Beyond Battle for Crawford...if the urge to return remains.

The question remains: Is Void still worth it? It was a little shaky when I left. Did it go down hill, or did they manage to pull out of whatever was going on?

I miss talking to so many artists and having a real reason to push myself.

Three years ago today, my best friend, someone that I still don't know how I'm living without, passed away from complications due to leukemia.

She was everything vital and amazing and alive. Today I noticed that her photobuckets had gone inactive so images weren't showing up on her lj or myspace, so I went and signed into them to get them back up and running.

I also composed a little Amelia picspam since I was looking at her pictures anyway. I encourage you to go check out her photobuckets. She was a great photographer and, if she didn't end up traveling the world digging up early hominids as she planned, I'd like to think she's be traveling the world taking pictures of rock bands and nature.

These pictures, however, are all of her )

Bad dream

So I had a dream last night, really I just woke up from it.

I was working again in the movie gallery in town but everything was empty except the shelves, I had bought the place and was making it into something else I guess. Some woman comes in, mentally disabled I guess, yelling at me (in a slow thick voice) because I didn't have her movie. Being the polite person I am I say sorry and keep apoligising as I herd her toward the door. At the door she asks if she can get a job here. I tell her she'll have to come back with a resume and I'll have to talk to the Manager.

Once she was gone I went to the back and things get fuzzy, but when I went back out one of the construction workers was starng at me. I recognise him as someone from High School in Peace River oddly enough, but I can't remember his name. He shoves me against the wall and starts beating me. I'm screaming at him as he's stomping on my fingers and screaming "Why Why?" finally the dream fades and switches. Now I'm on this TV show, I can't remember the name but the premis is that a hot Japanese guy or girl is going to work with you to get to your weight goal, if you get there or surpass it then they'll go on a date with you for a month and you win some big trip with them.
I swear to god that's a copyrighted idea now. :D

In any case, I was on the show but mad that I was because this type of show disgusted me. There were a few hefty people on it but there were also just a lot of average looking women who were probably right in the healthy range of a BMI so no one so big that they HAD to lose weight.

In any case it was the first day of shooting so it was a "Last Supper" type deal with everyone eating whatever they want. There were some door prizes as well and one turned out to be a book that I'd written about body image vs. a healthy body and the lies the media tells us about our looks and how to be the Healthy and ignore the Body image issue.
Not really a book for this show although technically a diet book.
someone asked me about the book as two guys were asked to pretend to be sumo wrestlers for a photo op because they were fat like them.
I mentioned how an exept from my book dealt with the Sumo and how really Sumo Wrestlers were not fat. That for good wrestlers those were layers of pure muscle under a rather thin layer of fat. They were all "oh really? wow"
In the backdrop of all this I swear I saw some of the people from the voice acting cruise 0_o

anyway, we went outside to do a shot from the road because the theme was "The road to thin" but they didn't shut down the street so we're on a low visible high crash area with only 2 plice trying to control 3 roads to keep us from being hit. I wouldn't even go on the road.

Getting in the car to leave the driver went nuts and started to chase after cos-playing girls and even hit one, at that point I woke up and I was so upset.

Dream 2 was short, I was in India and looking down into a river. We were trying to clean up the sides of the river by throwing all the garbage INTO the river. (wtf?) I found a wallet with a lot of money in it and then a backpacker came up all "OMG YOU'RE THROWING MY STUFF INTO THE RIVER!!" I gave him back the wallet and told him that maybe this wasn't the best place to be.

brain = weird right now

Getting a New Computer

So I'm gonna replace the old Macbook here.

3 years old, still runs like a dream but I think it's time to get a new one and set this one out to pasture.

Mostly because I'd rather get a new one then constantly be shelling out money for replacement bits.

The old power cord melted and now the battery is swelling up and has cracked my frame on the bottom here. The new cord was 100$ and the new battery is going to be about 150 but I'm gonna see if they won't replace it for free.

My sister has offered to buy this one for 700$ so that's almost 1/2 way to the cost of a new one.

Not sure if I'm going to buy one here or in Japan, while I'm looking at prices here I'm gonna get the boy to look at prices there (and second hand ones that are under a year old) and see what's a good deal...

Not sure if I'm ready to give er up yet... especially since I have two months at home and I wanna play WoW.

A singular dissapointment....

I like my new TV alot, but I have one very major disappointment in it, anything lower then a PS3 displays like crap.

All my PS2 games are pixelated, and believe me, I've leafed through every setting I can think of. I've tried various modes of display, normal, zoom, wide zoom, etc, only to the image the proper proportions but still having everything display pixelated.

It's really annoying because games like Mana Khemia and Tales of the abyss have perfect crystal quality on my old TV, but on the new one the line drawings are fuzzy, and the toon shaded models don't display properly. I won't even go into the text, which in certain situations becomes a challenge to read.

To someone like me, who up till now has been able to display and play any game on any system fairly problem free, this is a huge negative mark toward new TVs for me.

I have old games, I play old games, I don't like when my old games look like shit.

*grumbles*

Yet my computer monitor, which is also newer and similar to the tv has NO trouble displaying things at all. It's very frustrating.
